Boone County’s recycling drop-off program has been suspended indefinitely due to the unexpected loss of the City of Columbia Material Recovery Facility. The closure affects both the city and Boone County, leaving them without an alternative recycling processor.

The county will be exploring other options to resume the service while a new facility is under construction. However, officials caution that there are no assurances that a suitable alternative will be found.
