Capital Region Medical Center has been honored with the Tissue Donation Excellence Award for 2024. This recognition comes as a result of the medical center achieving a higher-than-average number of families consenting to tissue donation throughout the year.

The Midwest Transplant Network, which collaborates with 242 hospitals in Kansas and the western two-thirds of Missouri, is responsible for this award. The network acknowledges partners who contribute to saving lives through organ, eye, and tissue donation by presenting the annual Excellence in Donation Awards.

Debra Deeken, chief nursing officer at Capital Region Medical Center, expressed pride in their efforts: “We pride ourselves on helping our families ensure their loved one’s legacy would live on in someone else through the gift of donation,” she said. “This is a tremendous honor that speaks to the caring nature and diligence of our entire team.”
