Dr. Kerwin Urhahn was presented with the Irvin A. Keller Award at the Missouri Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association Spring Conference Banquet on April 12, recognizing his career of leadership and service to interscholastic athletics in Missouri.

The award, given by the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA), honors individuals who have shown exceptional commitment and leadership in school athletics. Dr. Urhahn’s career includes 16 years as executive director of MSHSAA, where he worked closely with schools and statewide organizations to advance high school sports and activities for students across Missouri.

During his time at MSHSAA, Dr. Urhahn collaborated with groups such as the Missouri Association of School Administrators, Missouri Association of Secondary School Principals, and the Missouri Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association to support student-athletes throughout the state. His influence also extended nationally through his service on the National Federation of State High School Associations Board of Directors from 2018 to 2021, including a term as President during the 2020-21 school year.

Before joining MSHSAA, Dr. Urhahn spent over three decades in education as a mathematics teacher and coach at Bloomfield High School, principal at Bloomfield High School, and superintendent of Portageville School District. He continued coaching while serving in administrative roles and was elected southeast representative on the MSHSAA Board before becoming executive director.

Dr. Urhahn is a graduate of Oran High School with degrees from Southeast Missouri State University, Saint Louis University, and the University of Missouri.

The Irvin A. Keller Award recognizes careers marked by integrity and dedication to interscholastic athletics; Dr. Kerwin Urhahn’s work at local, state, and national levels makes him a recipient of this recognition.
