Four Missouri swimmers advance to finals at SEC championships

The University of Missouri’s swimming and diving team advanced four athletes to the finals on the fourth day of the SEC Swim & Dive Championships in Auburn, Alabama, held on February 21.

In the women’s 100-meter butterfly finals, sophomore Paige Striley finished 14th with a time of 53.22 seconds after achieving a personal best of 52.68 in the preliminaries. Junior Taylor Williams followed closely, securing 15th place with a time of 53.34 seconds. Freshman Emily Roden placed 19th and qualified for the NCAA B cut by finishing in 52.74 seconds.

On the men’s side, sophomore Jan Zubik recorded a personal best of 45.89 seconds in the 100-meter butterfly final, earning him tenth place after also finishing tenth in the prelims with a time of 46.10 seconds.

Junior Calvin Windle completed Missouri’s night by placing seventeenth in his event with a time of 1:34.47, improving from his preliminary position where he placed twenty-first at 1:35.20.

The Missouri Tigers are scheduled to continue competition on Friday, February 23, during day five of the SEC Championships. Preliminary heats for events including the 200 fly, 100 backstroke, and 100 breaststroke will begin at 9:30 a.m., and coverage will be available via live stream on SEC Network+.
