The Missouri Tigers baseball team lost to the No. 14 ranked Oklahoma Sooners, 8-4, in the final game of their three-game Southeastern Conference series on Sunday afternoon at Kimrey Family Stadium, according to an April 19 announcement.

The loss brings Missouri’s season record to an even 20-20 overall and a conference record of 3-15. The game was notable for the return of left-handed pitcher Javyn Pimental, who made his first start since March after recovering from injury. However, Pimental lasted only 1.1 innings as Oklahoma scored four runs in the second inning and forced him out early.

Oklahoma extended its lead with another four runs in the fourth inning, including a two-out, three-run home run that put them ahead by eight runs. Missouri began their comeback attempt in the seventh inning when shortstop Kam Durnin hit a solo home run—his fourth of the season. In the eighth inning, Kaden Peer led off with his second hit of the day and was followed by singles from Eric Maisonet and Tyler Macon’s walk to load the bases. Freshman Blaize Ward then delivered a two-out single that drove in two runs.

Missouri added one more run in the ninth on a two-out RBI single from Maisonet that brought home Mateo Serna but could not continue their rally as Peer and Maisonet were left stranded on base.

Peer finished with three hits and scored once—his third three-hit performance this year—and Maisonet went two-for-two with an RBI after entering as a defensive replacement. Ward drove in two runs from his lead-off spot while Durnin added both a home run and a walk.

Looking ahead, Missouri will return to Taylor Stadium for their next game against SIUE on Tuesday night during CoMo Day festivities.
