Missouri women’s basketball will host Troy on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. in Mizzou Arena. The game is set to air on SECN+ and the Tiger Radio Network.
The Tigers currently hold a 4-1 record after an 81-50 victory over Southern Illinois earlier this week. Junior guard Shannon Dowell led the team with 30 points and collected four rebounds during that game. Dowell has scored double digits in 19 consecutive games, dating back to last season at Illinois State, and is currently ranked seventh in the SEC with an average of 17.8 points per game.
On Tuesday, Dowell made all ten of her free throw attempts. According to Missouri Athletics, this marks the first time in program history that two players have been perfect from the free-throw line with at least ten attempts in a single season, following Grace Slaughter’s 12-of-12 performance against Tulane on November 6.
Senior forward Jordana Reisma contributed 12 points, making five out of seven shots against Southern Illinois. Junior guard Abbey Schreacke ranks fourth in the conference for three-point percentage at 46.2% and is sixth for three-pointers made per game with an average of 2.4. As a team, Missouri has assisted on 38 out of its 40 three-point field goals so far this season.
Junior guard Grace Slaughter added ten points and stands fifth in the SEC with an average of 18 points per game. In October, she was named to the Cheryl Miller Small Forward of the Year Preseason Watch List.
During National Signing Day last week, Missouri signed three top-100 recruits: Natalya Hodge (No. 54), Khloe Ford (No. 94), and Jada Maples (No. 95), along with Cecilie Brandimore and Ellie Mueller.
Missouri leads its all-time series against Troy 2-0; their last matchup occurred in 2021 when Missouri won by a score of 76-63.
Troy enters the contest with a record of 3-1 after experiencing its first loss of the season at Kansas State earlier this week. Chanda Rigby serves as head coach for Troy in her fourteenth season leading the Trojans. Key players for Troy include Fortuna Ngnawo and Zay Dyer, who are averaging 15.5 and 12.2 points per game respectively.
This game also coincides with Columbia Public Schools’ annual field trip day, bringing over 3,000 local students to attend at Mizzou Arena.
