Missouri women’s cross country finishes fifth at NCAA Pre-National Meet

The University of Missouri’s women’s cross country team secured a fifth-place finish at the NCAA Pre-National Meet held in Terre Haute, Indiana, on Saturday. The Tigers, ranked 20th nationally, competed against 38 teams and finished behind top-ranked BYU, Colorado, Georgetown, and Wisconsin. Missouri tied for fifth place with Duke and outperformed several other nationally ranked programs such as North Carolina, Indiana, Michigan, and William & Mary.

Freshman Amanda Bales led the team by finishing ninth overall with a time of 20:36 in the 6K race. Valerie Lauver followed closely behind in 17th place with a time of 20:52.

Missouri head cross country coach Jared Wilmes commented on the team’s performance: “It was just a great day and a great performance. This gets us very excited for the Big 12 (Cross Country) meet. We got great wins over some nationally ranked teams on a national level.”
