The University of Missouri reported on April 17 that its Memorial Stadium Centennial Project is moving forward, with the goal of completing major renovations in time for the start of the 2026 football season.
The project marks a significant investment in updating and expanding the nearly century-old stadium, aiming to enhance both fan experience and recruiting efforts. The $250 million renovation will enclose the north end zone and introduce new premium seating options as well as modern infrastructure improvements.
University President Mun Choi said at the project’s approval, “Today’s announcement honors our fans’ commitments, traditions and history — but also enables us to compete at the highest level. And in the SEC, we have to compete at the highest level.” Former Board of Curator chair Robin Wenneker added after a crucial vote in 2024, “We are momentum investing in Memorial Stadium to elevate Mizzou’s national brand and deliver a world-class facility. We want to be pace setters and establish the new standard for success.”
Shortly after project approval, Laird Veatch was hired as athletics director. At his introductory press conference on April 26, 2024, Veatch said: “I can’t wait to get rolling with the big-time vision you set for the North End Zone project at Memorial Stadium… It’s one of the reasons why I’m excited to be here.”
Construction began officially before Mizzou’s final home game of 2024 with a groundbreaking ceremony attended by university leaders. Work continued through game days as crews made steady progress. In September 2025, a milestone was reached when campus leaders celebrated placing the final beam into position during an event attended by Gov. Mike Kehoe and donors.
As construction continues into spring 2026, updates include premium seating such as field-level suites and club spaces along with upgrades throughout other areas like restrooms, concessions, team facilities, retail space and event venues within Memorial Stadium. The stadium is set to celebrate its centennial anniversary during what will be Coach Drinkwitz’s Tigers’ opening game that year.
