The Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) Board of Directors held its regular meeting on April 10-11 at the Compass Rose Ballroom in Margaritaville Lake Resort, where it approved a new member school and reviewed governance matters.

The board granted membership to Columbia Academy for Learning and Enrichment (CALE), which will be eligible to participate in MSHSAA sports and activities beginning July 1, 2026. This decision allows CALE students to join state-sanctioned extracurricular programs starting next academic year.

During the meeting, the board also completed a final review of the 2026 Annual Ballot. The ballot was released to schools on Monday and will remain open until Friday, April 24. Results are expected to be posted on the MSHSAA website later this spring.

“The Annual Ballot is a part of our annual governance process,” Dr. Jennifer Rukstad, MSHSAA Executive Director, said. “This is how our schools govern their own Association. Through this process, our members create and revise the rules that guide us. Every school has a voice, and every vote matters, ensuring that our Association is truly led by its member schools.”

Additionally, recommendations from advisory committees on Sports Medicine, Swimming & Diving, and Wrestling were approved by the board during this session. Further details about these actions will be made available at a later date.

The next scheduled meeting of the MSHSAA Board of Directors is set for June.
