Senior golfer Virgilio Paz made a significant move up the leaderboard during the final round of the Colleton River Collegiate, leading the Missouri Tigers men’s golf team. Paz advanced 21 spots on Monday and finished with a one-under total over three rounds, securing his second top-15 finish of the season. He tied for fifth in the third round by carding five birdies and two bogeys for a score of three-under 69. His overall scores were 74, 72, and 69, placing him 15th out of 92 competitors.

Missouri head coach Glen Millican commented on Paz’s performance: “It was a great final round by Virgilio today. We also had solid play from Trent, Brock and Veikka this event. There are still areas we have to improve to get into contention but the guys are getting closer and will be there soon.”

Other notable performances included junior Veikka Viskari finishing at two-over par (67-74-77) for 33rd place, sophomore Trent Mierl at five-over (73-74-74), and Brock Snyder at six-over (75-73-74).

The Tigers concluded the tournament in 11th place among 15 teams with an eight-over team score across rounds of 289, 289, and 294. Kentucky won the event while Ohio State finished second and Memphis took third.

The Missouri Tigers men’s golf team is scheduled to compete next at The Michael A. Marino Classic in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina starting Sunday, March 15.
