Rep. Mark Alford, who has represented Missouri’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress since 2023, used his social media platform this week to spotlight small businesses and their contributions to local communities.

On May 4, Alford posted: “Stay tuned this week as we highlight small businesses across MO-04 and the hardworking folks who keep our communities running strong.”

Continuing his focus on community businesses during National Small Business Week, Alford highlighted a longstanding family-run business in Golden Valley on May 5, stating: “Since 1977, this family-run business has been serving the Golden Valley community through life’s most meaningful moments — from high school prom celebrations to final tributes.”

That same day, he also drew attention to Clinton Flower Shop in Clinton, Missouri. In his post, Alford wrote: ” This #NationalSmallBusinessWeek, we’re proud to highlight Clinton Flower Shop in Clinton, Missouri. Meet the owner, Scott Brooks, who shared how small businesses like his build lasting relationships with the families they serve.”

Alford’s emphasis on small businesses aligns with National Small Business Week and reflects ongoing efforts by public officials to recognize local entrepreneurs and their impact on regional economies.

Background information shows that Mark Alford replaced Vicky Hartzler as representative for Missouri’s 4th district in 2023. He was born in Baytown, Texas in 1963 and currently resides in Lake Winnebago. Alford graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a BA in 1988.
