Rep. Mark Alford, U.S. Congressman representing Missouri’s 4th district since 2023, posted a series of messages on his official Twitter account in early May highlighting both local appreciation efforts and national security concerns.
On May 5, Alford recognized educators in his district by posting, “NATIONAL TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK Grateful for all of MO-04’s outstanding teachers…For their hard work and dedication to our children across the Show Me State. Preparing the next generation to lead & succeed! https://t.co/8XwXtrLmnY”.
The following day, he shifted focus to legislative matters, announcing progress on a bill targeting foreign influence near sensitive military sites. On May 6, Alford stated, “My Strategic Assets Protection Act takes action—cracking down on CCP-linked activity and protecting America’s nuclear deterrent. My bill just advanced in the House – Read more https://t.co/FCeeSUlapw”. In a related post from the same date, he added, ” Foreign ownership near U.S. nuclear bases, including Whiteman, is a real national security risk and should concern EVERY American. https://t.co/DdIp0F8VaA”.
Alford’s emphasis on national security follows ongoing debates over foreign land ownership near critical infrastructure such as Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri. These concerns reflect broader legislative efforts aimed at addressing potential risks posed by entities linked to foreign governments operating close to strategic U.S. assets.
Born in Baytown, Texas in 1963 and currently residing in Lake Winnebago, Alford graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a BA in 1988. He succeeded Vicky Hartzler as representative for Missouri’s 4th District.
