For the women’s race, Iowa State secured first place with 79 points, followed by Oklahoma State with 140 points. On the men’s side, Iowa State also led with a dominant score of 38 points; Bradley came second with 107 points.
The top three finishers for Mizzou’s women’s team were all freshmen. Revord completed the 6K course in 21:07.2 to take 20th place. Tori Findley of Blue Springs, Missouri, was next at 29th (21:20.7), and Mikayla Reed of Washington, Missouri, finished right behind her in 30th (21:21.9).
On the men’s team, Wood and redshirt junior Thomas George of Gloucester, England, have consistently been among Mizzou’s leading runners this season. Wood ran the 10K in 31:21.9 for his top-20 finish; George finished in 39th at 31:55.1. Redshirt senior Evan Schulte from Columbia, Missouri placed third for Mizzou at 73rd overall (32:28.7).
Mizzou Head Coach Marc Burns commented on both teams’ performances after the meet.
“We are thrilled with the races of our top-three women today. It is really something special when you put three freshman in the top-30 at the regional meet. We did not hit our team goal, but we were close and we believe in this team. This will be a strong motivator for us moving forward and the first step is having a strong indoor and outdoor track season. We will be back next fall ready to make a big step forward.”
On the men’s results he said:
“Kieran had a great day today finishing 19th. He put himself in position early and battled the whole way. Overall, we are pretty disappointed in the team finish as we felt we had a top-10 team in the region. We came up a little short today, but we are proud of our guys and how they battled all year. They have put in place a great foundation for future success.”
The cross country teams will now prepare for their upcoming indoor track & field season.
