On August 26, 2025, Schmitt commented on the death of a police officer, stating, “This is heartbreaking news, & I send my deepest condolences to Officer Simoncic’s loved ones. Our officers put their lives on the line every day to protect our communities. Any violence toward them must be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
Later that same day, he paid tribute to U.S. service members who died during the withdrawal from Afghanistan: “Today we remember Marine Corps LCpl Jared Schmitz & the 12 other American service members who tragically lost their lives in the botched withdrawal from Afghanistan. On August 28, 2025, Schmitt turned his attention to an emerging legal case involving former Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook and former President Donald Trump. He wrote: “After President Trump fired her for cause (alleged mortgage fraud), former Fed Governor Cook is expected to sue. This massive administrative state/separation of powers case will likely go to the Supreme Court. Let’s break down why President Trump is expected to win.”
