U.S. Senator Eric Schmitt called for the Senate to pass the SAVE America Act during an appearance on Fox News’ Hannity, according to a March 17 statement.

The discussion comes as lawmakers debate measures related to election security and other issues that Schmitt described as priorities for both President Trump and the American people. The senator said these topics are critical for ensuring secure elections and protecting children.

“I think the Democrats want to cheat. Everybody knows this, right? When President Trump gave his really memorable and stirring second inaugural address, he talked about a return of common sense, and that’s really what this is about. These are 90/10, you know 80/20, 90/10 issues. You have to prove you’re an American citizen to vote, check. You have to show a photo ID to vote, check. You have to cut down on this mass mail in balloting scam we saw in 2020 where the Democrats try to cheat, check. you have to, by the way, we think men should not be able to compete in women’s sports, and we should stop and ban the transgender mutilation of our kids. These are all very common-sense issues Sean. The American people support it. The Democrats are on the wrong side of this, whether it’s Trump Derangement Syndrome or the left has totally captured Democrat party. They’re wrong on this. I think it’s a very important week for us in the Senate. I’ll be having that amendment as we go to the floor this week finally, on the SAVE AmericaAct. This is a big priority for President Trump, but bigger than that, this is important for the American people to secure our elections and protect our kids,” Schmitt said.

Schmitt also addressed what he sees as urgency around passing these measures: “Well, it’s showtime now, right? We’re going to be on the main stage this week, and I hope so. I think that we should spend as much time as necessary to get this done. What could be more important in our republic, Sean, than making sure we have secure elections, that people are who they say they are, that we don’t have illegal immigrants voting in our elections. This is the whole point.”

He continued: “We’re not going to know until we try, and this is the week I think we go to the gusto on this thing. This is very important, not only to President Trump, like I said, for the American people. If you want to understand why the Democrats let 15 million people in here illegally, they want to change how we elect people. They want people who are not here legally to vote, and this is our chance to stop it.”

Schmitt provides services statewide through district offices located in Columbia, Springfield, Kansas City and Cape Girardeau according to his official website. He serves on key Senate committees including Armed Services and Commerce, Science and Transportation according to his official website. His status as U.S. Senator from Missouri was confirmed through official appointment according to his official website. Schmitt operates as a governmental entity focused on legislative representation for Missouri according to his official website. He maintains offices in several Missouri cities as well as Washington D.C., according to his official website.

The outcome of discussions around the SAVE America Act may influence future debates over election laws at both state and national levels.
