Senator Eric Schmitt, a U.S. Senator from Missouri, commented on legal and public safety issues in a series of posts on his X (formerly Twitter) account between August 22 and August 24, 2025.

On August 22, Schmitt addressed the ongoing legal proceedings involving former President Donald Trump. He wrote, “This may not be the end of this case. The actions of Engoron and James were so egregious that liberal NY judges overturned the fine, but President Trump may win an even bigger win on appeal, finding that Tish James never had the authority to bring this bogus suit.” In this post, Schmitt referenced Judge Arthur Engoron and New York Attorney General Letitia James in relation to litigation against Trump.

Later that day, Schmitt praised actions taken by President Trump regarding community safety. On August 22 he stated, “Americans shouldn’t be terrorized in their communities, and thank goodness President Trump is taking action to prevent just that. This is an Administration of action, not passive governing from a beach in Delaware.”

Two days later, on August 24, Schmitt discussed urban crime policies and recent federal initiatives in St. Louis. He posted, “Urban crime is a policy choice. We don’t have to live like this. We know how to fix it: More law enforcement on the streets. And actually prosecuting criminals. That’s exactly what’s in store for St. Louis with @FBIDirectorKash’s historic investment of FBI agents in the city.” In this message, he referenced a new initiative led by FBI Director Kash Patel to increase federal law enforcement presence in St. Louis.

Senator Eric Schmitt has previously served as Missouri’s Attorney General before being elected to the U.S. Senate in 2022.
