Cost of college went up for all students at the University of Missouri-Columbia

In-state tuition and fees rose 1.9 percent for 2018-19 at the University of Missouri-Columbia, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Missouri residents paid $9,972 to attend the four-year public institution this year – $185 more than the $9,787 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 171.2 percent more than residents this year, or $27,042. Their price tag grew 2 percent from $26,506 in 2017-18.

About 68 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Missouri residents. About 31 percent are residents of other states and 1 percent are citizens of other countries.

Data shows 85 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 2,983 students received grants or scholarships totaling $30.2 million and 1,820 students took out student loans totaling more than $14.2 million.

Including all undergraduates (29,843), 14,464 students used grants or scholarships totaling $137.2 million, and 9,571 students took out $64.8 million in federal student loans.
