This was the first election that voters were required to present a photo ID at the polling place or vote a blue provisional ballot. 296 blue provisional ballots were cast and 280 were counted. In preparing for the election, we expected that we would receive the majority of blue provisional ballots from our college-aged population, but the actual distribution was far more varied. The Hearnes Center central poll still had the most provisional ballots cast (44 total), but 12 polling places had no provisional ballots cast at all. Knowing this information helps us know where to send larger numbers of blue provisional ballot envelopes and how many provisional ballots to expect to adjudicate in future elections.
