Truman Baseball Walks-Off Parkside In Series Sweep

It was a great day for Truman State baseball as they went 2-0 in a doubleheader against Wisconsin-Parkside, winning 6-1 and 9-8 in walk-off fashion.

Game One:

The first game was all Truman, winning 6-1 in the seven inning contest.

The Bulldogs scored in the first, fifth, and sixth innings, with Dylan Thompson getting it started in the first with an RBI single.

Luke Turner drove in Tal Dean in the fifth inning to make it a 2-1 game.

Truman scored four in the sixth off a Parkside error, a Dakota Spicer RBI single, a Simon Murry RBI double, and a Luke Turner sacrifice fly.

Cole Eggerding had a quality start, throwing four innings and and not allowing an earned run. He struck out three Parkside batters in the 17 he faced.

Tucker Olson, Brian Bruxvoort, and Michael Daggett each threw an inning, with Tucker taking the win.

Luke Turner went 1-3 with two RBI.

Dylan Thompson went 2-3 with an RBI and a run.

Dakota Spicer went 1-2 with an RBI and two runs.

Simon Murray went 1-3 with an RBI.

Alex Wittenauer drove in a run.

Game Two:

The momentum was favoring Parkside early, with the Rangers jumping out to a 6-0 lead in the second inning. Truman cut the lead to four with a Tal Dean walk with the bases loaded and a Luke Turner RBI single.

The Bulldogs made it a 6-5 Parkside lead in the fourth with a two-RBI Simon Murray home run and Tal Dean scoring on a fielder's choice.

Will Fromm tied it in the sixth with a home run to left field.

Parkside scored two in the sixth and seven to take an 8-6 lead over the Bulldogs.

Down two in the bottom of the seventh, Dylan Thompson started Truman's rally with a home run to left. Kevin Donohue walked and stole second, then Will Fromm walked and PJ Jerszynski pinch-ran for Fromm. Donohue and Jerszynski stole second and third, and Dakota Spicer brought Donohue in on a sacrifice fly. With two outs, Simon Murray hit a single to left field, scoring Jerszynski to win the game for the Bulldogs.
