Jason Lowry is seeking the Republican nomination to represent the Eastern District for a four-year term. The primary election will be held on August 6.
Per a sample ballot, Lowry is running for election in the GOP primary against John C. Tracy.
In an April 29 post on his campaign's Facebook page, Lowry has worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse and Project Coordinator for BRIDGES and Innovative Pathways Projects at the Caring Community Partnership in the community. He has worked in mental health and substance abuse support initiatives in the area, as well as served as an instructor for the Missouri Credentialing Board, the Fragile Families Fatherhood curriculum, and re-entry training for individuals in the Moberly Correctional Center.
Lowry shared that he mentors middle school and high school students and coaches youth baseball, basketball, and football on Facebook.
In an April 1 post on his campaign's Facebook page, Lowry, who has lived in Randolph County for most of his life, explained that he is running for Eastern District Commissioner in order "to help advocate for our true County needs by addressing social and behavioral needs, as well as physical growth and improvement" and that "the only agenda I carry into this is to make positive change in Randolph County." Lowry emphasized that as a father, it is especially important to him to make sure Randolph County will be "a strong community that people want to raise their children in."
In a press release, R.E.D. PAC — a political action committee focused on rural economic development — endorsed Lowry as a candidate who has "demonstrated unwavering dedication to the principles that foster economic stability, enhance transparency in government, and protect private property rights from excessive regulation" and as an advocate "for sensible solutions to local and national challenges, emphasizing the importance of strong community leadership in achieving long-term success."
R.E.D. PAC Chief Strategist Charlie Kolean also endorsed Lowry, saying he was a person who would "stand firm on issues critical to our freedoms and economic wellbeing."
The Randolph County Commission comprises three members: one presiding commissioner and two associate commissioners, one of whom represents the Eastern District and the other of whom represents the Western District.
Chapter 49 of the Missouri Revised Statutes explains that the presiding commissioner is elected by the County at-large, while the associate commissioners are elected by members of the respective districts in which they reside. Commissioners are elected to four-year terms.
Per the Randolph County Commission's website, commissioners' responsibilities' include enacting and conducting hearings on ordinances, resolutions and policies, supervising County departments' activities, setting salaries, adopting the annual budget, and providing for construction and other services.
