Columbia voters approve extension of Capital Improvement Sales Tax

On August 6, 2024, voters in Columbia passed a ballot measure to extend the existing Capital Improvement Sales Tax (CIST) for an additional ten years. According to the Boone County Clerk's office, the election results showed 14,110 votes in favor and 5,699 votes against.

"The Capital Improvement Sales Tax has been instrumental in enabling us to make significant strides in serving our community and we’re thankful that the community has again voted to extend it," stated De’Carlon Seewood, City Manager of Columbia.

The City of Columbia issued a statement expressing gratitude for the support received from voters. The extension of this tax is expected to continue funding essential services and improvements within the city.

The information was disseminated by various departments within the city government including Creative Services, Marketing and Engagement, and Public Communication divisions.
