After 18 weeks of training, the Columbia Fire Department's Basic Recruit School class graduated in a ceremony at City Hall on Friday, Sept. 13. Fourteen recruits completed the program, with six immediately joining CFD’s Operations Division and eight remaining at the Training Division to complete an EMT certification course over the next six weeks.

The graduates received certificates and badges from Fire Chief Brian Schaeffer and took their oath of office in the City Council Chambers. "The City is thrilled to have such capable and dedicated members join CFD," stated a city representative.

This ceremony marked the first class that Schaeffer has sworn in since becoming fire chief in August.
