U.S. Senator Eric Schmitt from Missouri appeared on Newsmax's American Agenda to discuss several key topics, including the One Big Beautiful Bill, Medicaid enhancements for individuals with disabilities, and President Trump's accomplishments during his second term.

In discussing the Senate’s Big Beautiful Bill Vote-A-Rama, Schmitt compared it to "Thunderdome," describing a fast-paced process involving numerous amendments. He stated, "It’s more like Thunderdome than Vote-a-rama... The Democrats are trying to score some political points, but it’s just tired old rhetoric quite honestly." He highlighted that the bill would preserve what he described as "the largest tax cut in American history" while opposing a significant tax increase proposed by Democrats. The bill also includes provisions for border security, military funding, and support for college tuition savings and disability safety nets.

On strengthening Medicaid for vulnerable groups, Schmitt mentioned that certain individuals would lose benefits: "There’s only one class of individuals that are going to lose their benefits. It’s... 1.5 million illegals who currently get taxpayer benefits." He emphasized work requirements for able-bodied adults and reaffirmed protections for pregnant women, children in poverty, and disabled individuals.

Schmitt also praised recent successes under President Trump: “It’s pretty remarkable... think about that successful sort of peace through strength with the targeted Iran strike.” He noted NATO's increased defense commitments and Supreme Court victories as significant achievements.
