U.S. Senator Eric Schmitt of Missouri recently appeared on Jesse Watters Primetime to discuss President Trump's One Big Beautiful Bill and the ongoing vote-a-Rama in the Senate. Schmitt highlighted the potential economic impact if tax cuts from 2017 are not extended, stating, "Those tax cuts from President Trump in 2017 are set to expire at the end of this year, so if we don’t extend those and we want to make them permanent, you’re going to see a 4 trillion dollar tax increase."

Schmitt emphasized the benefits seen during Trump's first term, including record wage growth across various demographics. He expressed his intent to make these tax cuts permanent while also securing funds for border security and military enhancements. "The CBO just came out with a score that $500 billion will be saved from deficit reduction," he added.

Addressing opposition from Democrats, Schmitt stated, "It will be devastating... For average working folks who got a big benefit from those tax cuts... That would all go away." He criticized Democrats for potentially supporting what he described as "the largest tax increase in American history."

Schmitt also praised recent achievements by President Trump, mentioning executive orders and trade deals. He noted the importance of passing significant legislation: "Now we are on the precipice of the biggest, most important piece of legislation we have seen in a generation."

Regarding legislative progress, Schmitt explained efforts to collaborate with partners in the House and White House. "When the House sent over their bill, we’re working to affect it now to make this Big Beautiful Bill better," he said.
