Boone County has approved a $2.5 million funding agreement for the construction of a Public Safety Childcare Center. This initiative aims to support first responders and the community by providing childcare services, which are expected to aid in recruitment and retention efforts.

Boone County Presiding Commissioner Kip Kendrick expressed confidence in the project's potential benefits. "The Public Safety Childcare Center will be a heavy lift, but we are confident that it will be extremely beneficial to first responders and the public at-large," he said. He highlighted the center as a valuable tool for recruiting and retaining personnel, particularly for the Joint Communications Center.

Kendrick also acknowledged the contributions from state authorities: "While much work remains, we are excited about this opportunity and we are very appreciative of the support from the Missouri General Assembly and Governor Parson."
