The Boone County Commission has initiated public discussions to draft a policy for the senior citizen tax relief program. This initiative is still in progress, and final approval will not be granted until after the 2024 Missouri Legislative Session concludes. The delay is due to ongoing debates in the Missouri General Assembly concerning cleanup legislation related to the senior citizen property tax freeze. The legislative session is set to end at 6:00 PM on Friday, May 17, by which time more details of the legislation are expected to be clarified.
