The Boone County Hazard Mitigation Plan has received approval from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). This approval is contingent upon adoption by the county, participating communities, and educational institutions. The plan's approval enables participants to apply for FEMA mitigation funds aimed at reducing the impact of natural hazards on lives and property.

Following this development, the updated plan will be sent back to the participating jurisdictions for adoption by their local governing councils.
