Boone County prepares for third annual Early Childhood Summit

Boone County is set to host its third annual Early Childhood Summit on Wednesday, May 26. The event will take place from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. at the MU Stotler Lounge. George Lombardi, Director of the Department of Corrections, will deliver the keynote address, focusing on how high-quality early childhood programs can help reduce crime.

A panel featuring Columbia Superintendent of Schools Chris Belcher, Regional President of Commerce Bank Teresa Maledy, and Police Chief Ken Burton will respond to Lombardi's address. City of Columbia Mayor Bob McDavid and Boone County Presiding Commissioner Ken Pearson are scheduled to provide introductions.

The summit is free and open to the public.
