U.S. Senator Eric Schmitt (R-MO) participated in a White House ceremony for the signing of a rescissions package, which he played a key role in advancing through the Senate. The package aims to cut $9 billion in spending deemed unnecessary, refocus foreign policy to benefit American interests, and cease taxpayer funding for NPR and PBS.

Senator Schmitt issued a statement following the event: “President Trump promised to cut waste, fraud, and abuse in the federal government and restore fiscal responsibility and discipline. He is delivering on the promise. The rescissions package President Trump signed into law eliminates $9 billion in wasteful spending, defunds foreign policy initiatives that do no serve American interests, and ends taxpayer funding for NPR and PBS, which serve as mouthpieces for the left’s radical ideas. American taxpayers shouldn’t be forced to fund woke foreign aid or captured media institutions; their tax dollars should go to improving our nation and advancing American interests. I was proud to lead the rescissions package through the Senate and applaud President Trump for his leadership and commitment to safeguarding taxpayer dollars.”

The rescissions package was successfully led by Senator Schmitt through the Senate last week.
