Senator Eric Schmitt, a Republican representing Missouri in the U.S. Senate, has made several statements on social media regarding public broadcasting and judicial conduct.

On July 27, 2025, Schmitt posted criticism of National Public Radio (NPR), stating: "This is why we defunded @NPR. No more tax dollars for anti-American, anti-Western propaganda."

The following day, July 28, 2025, Schmitt addressed recent revelations concerning Judge Boasberg's handling of matters related to former President Trump. He wrote: "This revelation fits a long-running pattern of Judge Boasberg's open bias against President Trump. Earlier in July, a memo revealed that Judge Boasberg and other DC judges were prejudicially speculating about how the Trump administration might respond to an adverse ruling."

In another post from the same day, Schmitt continued his criticism of Judge Boasberg: "Rogue Judge Boasberg may 'discipline' DOJ for not turning around planes full of terrorists and gangbangers headed to El Salvador. Boasberg was just exposed for being biased against Trump last week. I have new receipts that show he has been a partisan since his confirmation."

NPR has faced scrutiny from some lawmakers over its federal funding and editorial stance. In recent years, debates in Congress have included calls by some Republicans to reduce or eliminate public funding for NPR and other outlets perceived as politically biased.

Judge James E. Boasberg serves as Chief Judge for the United States District Court for the District of Columbia. Accusations of political bias against members of the judiciary are not uncommon during high-profile cases involving current or former government officials.
