U.S. Senator Eric Schmitt (R-Mo.) appeared on Fox Business’ Kudlow to discuss recent evidence related to the origins of the investigation into alleged Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election, often referred to as “Russiagate.” Schmitt described newly released documents as evidence that Democrats coordinated efforts to discredit former President Donald Trump.

During the interview, Schmitt stated: “Larry, I know in this twenty-four-hour news cycle we’re in, where there is always a story, it’s easy for things to get lost. I do want to take a moment to set the stage for this because I think this is explosive and the biggest scandal – at least in modern political history. Here’s what happened. The Open Society Foundation, which is led by George Soros, they have an Executive Director, Leonard Bernardo. The documents released today [show] that Hillary Clinton signed off on this Russiagate hoax to, essentially, distract from the e-mail problem she had, by saying that this coordination with Russia would affect critical infrastructure. That’s important because that was later used by Biden for his censorship enterprise. This whole thing was made up. You’ve got the Steele dossier, which was the predicate for Obama to spy on a presidential candidate, Donald Trump. And then, after the election, through those fake FISA warrants, when he got a briefing about this was phony -there was no Russian interference, President Trump wasn’t a ploy by Putin – they ignored it. They altered it, and they continue to use this as a way to attempt to sideline a presidency. This is crazy. This makes Watergate, honestly, seem like a drop in the bucket [compared to] the huge scandal of all the intelligence agencies aimed at a presidential candidate, the President of the United States aimed at his political opponent. The chief rival, Hillary Clinton, was doing it and George Soros was in the mix. This is a big deal, and I think you’re going to continue to see more and more of this. It should outrage the country,and people should be held accountable for this.People should actually be held accountable for this.You can’t have a Constitutional Republic – ademocracy – when the people in charge weaponize to this extent [against] their chief political rival.And then,later on,the tried top put [President Trump]in jail for therest of his life.Now we know why they were so determined tomake sure President Trump wouldn’t return,because they knew [his administration]was goingto review allofthis.We are now seeing it.”

Schmitt also said: “Yes,I am[expecting more information].Thisiswhy permanent Washingtonwasso terrifiedthat Kash Patel would getin,Pam Bondiwouldgetin,andTulsi gabbardwouldgetin.They triedtodiscreditthem.Theytriedtocall themagents ofaforeignstate.Itwasallnonsenseandaslur.Theyknewexactlywhatwascoming.Theyknewwhatthevulnerabilitieswere,andtheyarenowbeingexposed.Thereismoretocome,andthereisarreckoningcoming–thereshouldbe.There’snoplace,Larry,forthisinourcountry.[Yet]theydiditin2016.Thenofcourse,youhadtheHunterBidenlaptopnonsensein2020.Thentheytriedtokeep[PresidentTrump]fromevercomingback[totheWhiteHouse].Nowherewegoagainastheytrytodiscreditthis.Buttheproofisinthepuddingnow.We’v egottheactualdocuments,andIthinkthereisalottomoretocome.”

When asked if he was surprised by these developments Schmitt responded: “Oh no,[I’m not shocked]at all.The Democrats can nolonger callthisstuffconspiracytheorynonsense.Thebattingaverageonthings thatthe[Democrats]callaconspiracytheoriesthatturnedouttobetrueisreachingHallofFamestatusnow.It’sincredible.”

He added: “100 percent.There oughttobeprosecutions.ThesefolksthoughttheycouldgetawaywiththisandsubvertthewilloftheAmericanpeople.Thatsimplycannotbetolerated.Nowwe’regettingtheevidenceofexactlywhattheydid.Theytriedtodiscreditanyonewhocameforwardandnowit’sallbeingdeclassified.Anditshouldbe.”
