Current and former University of Missouri track and field athletes have achieved notable results at recent national and international competitions. The performances were led by Gabi Jacobs, a 2019 graduate, who secured a place on Team USA for the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo. Jacobs finished third in the women's discus at the USA Track and Field Outdoor Championship with a throw of 63.33 meters (207-9). This result qualified her for the world event scheduled for September 13-21.
Karissa Schweizer, another Missouri alumna and six-time NCAA champion, also competed at the USATF Outdoor Championships. She placed sixth in both the women's 5000 meters with a time of 15:16.76 and the 10,000 meters in 32:10.82.
Internationally, Valentina Barrios, who won the NCAA women’s javelin title in 2025, took second place at the Colombian National Championships with a throw of 58.28 meters (191-2). Callan Saldutto earned first place in men’s javelin at the Canadian National Championships with a mark of 72.52 meters (237-11). Kristi Perez-Snyman represented South Africa at the World University Games and finished fourth in women’s high jump after clearing 1.84 meters (6-0).
Among current Missouri athletes competing abroad, Morgan Yeomans won her preliminary heat in the women’s 1500m at the Canadian U20 National Championships with a time of 4:39.40 before finishing fifth in the final at 4:31.23. Lasse Funck placed eighth in men’s 800m at Germany's national championship meet. Kobi Walker took third place in women’s 6000m during the U20 Trans-Tasman Cross Country Championships with a time of 21:43.23.
The Missouri cross country team will begin its upcoming season on August 29 with its annual Mizzou Opener meet held at Gans Creek Cross Country Course. The venue is set to host four regular season home meets as well as serve as site for this year’s NCAA Cross Country Championships on November 22.
