Senator Eric Schmitt, representing Missouri in the U.S. Senate, posted a series of tweets on September 9, 2025, addressing issues ranging from presidential clemency procedures to advocacy for Missourians with disabilities and recognition for public figures.

In his first tweet at 18:25 UTC, Schmitt criticized the Biden administration’s handling of clemency approvals. He wrote, "By the end of Biden's admin, his staff secretary was 'unsure if the president had actually approved specific individuals for clemency' and staffers could 'add or subtract clemency recipients after President Biden's alleged approval.' That's unacceptable." This comment reflects ongoing scrutiny over transparency and accountability in presidential pardons.

Later that day at 19:43 UTC, Schmitt highlighted his collaboration with the Missouri Developmental Disabilities Council (MODDCouncil). He stated, "Great to see the @MODDCouncil again today! I’m proud to partner with them to advocate on behalf of Missourians with disabilities. Thanks to their support, we were able to get my ENABLE and HCBS provisions signed into law!" The ENABLE Act and Home- and Community-Based Services (HCBS) provisions are legislative measures aimed at improving services for individuals with disabilities in Missouri.

At 20:13 UTC, Schmitt expressed support for conservative commentator Pat Buchanan. In his tweet he said, "Pat Buchanan is one of the great patriots of our time. I'm asking President Trump to give him the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Here's why. "

The ENABLE Act and HCBS provisions referenced by Schmitt are designed to enhance access to resources and care for people with disabilities in Missouri. These laws focus on increasing community-based support options rather than institutional care settings.

Senator Eric Schmitt has been an active proponent of disability rights legislation during his tenure in Congress.
