Rep. Mark Alford highlights veterans’ issues and legislative progress on September 9

Rep. Mark Alford, who represents Missouri’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of updates on September 9, 2025, highlighting his recent legislative activities and meetings in Washington, D.C.

On the morning of September 9, Alford shared details about his meeting with the Veterans of Foreign Wars legislative team from Missouri. He stated, "Great to meet with the @VFWHQ Missouri legislative team this morning in DC. As a member of the @HouseAppropsGOP subcommittee that funds the VA, I’m committed to working with them to improve services and ensure that every veteran receives the benefits they’ve earned. " (September 9, 2025).

Later that day, Alford commented on ongoing efforts regarding appropriations bills in Congress: "We need time on the House Floor to finish passing our Appropriations bills, and keep our government OPEN. We are working on #11 out of 12 total today in @HouseAppropsGOP. A short term CR will allow us to get the job done and return to regular order." (September 9, 2025).

In another post from September 9, Alford voiced support for legislation related to small business innovation programs: "Proud to support this critical legislation to extend the SBIR and STTR programs! We're ensuring small businesses have access to the resources they need to remain leaders in American innovation." (September 9, 2025).

Alford has represented Missouri's 4th district since replacing Vicky Hartzler in Congress in 2023. He was born in Baytown, Texas in 1963 and currently resides in Lake Winnebago. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1988.
