Freshman Trent Mierl led the University of Missouri men's golf team at the General Hackler Invitational, earning a top-20 finish during his first season. Competing against six nationally ranked teams in a field of 90 golfers, Mierl improved his standing on the final day to place 16th overall. He shot a two-under-par 70 in the last round, ending with a total score of three-under (72-71-70).

Mierl highlighted his performance with an eagle on the par-five fourth hole, his second eagle in as many days. His round also included two birdies, 13 pars, and only two bogeys.

"I stayed really patient out there and stuck to my process," Mierl said. "I've learned a lot from my teammates and coaches this year and it has helped me take steps into the right direction. This group of guys has a lot of potential and I look forward to seeing what we can do in the rest of the season. MIZ"

Throughout the tournament, Mierl maintained consistent play with two eagles and six birdies while limiting himself to seven bogeys over 54 holes. This marks his fourth top-20 finish this season across seven events.

Graduate student Mattias Varjun made significant progress on the final day for Missouri, posting a season-best score of 68—improving by two strokes over his previous best this year. Varjun's six birdies and two bogeys contributed to his four-under round, allowing him to move up 31 spots to finish 48th at six-over (77-77-68).

"Today was a really good final round for us," Missouri head coach Glen Millican said. "It was great to see Mattias play well and for Trent to finish in the top 20."

Other participants for Missouri included Brock Snyder (77-73-73), Virgilio Paz (71-81-75), Trevor Mierl (75-77-75), and Veikka Viskari (77-72-80).

The team recorded its best collective score in the final round with a two-under-par total of 286, finishing 12th overall at +12. Auburn claimed first place in the event, followed by Louisville and Duke.

Missouri will remain in South Carolina for their next competition at the Hootie at Bulls Bay beginning Sunday.
