Junior Veikka Viskari led the Missouri Tigers men's golf team to a sixth-place finish at the Folds of Honor Collegiate in Grand Haven, Michigan, marking the start of the 2025-26 season. Viskari recorded his best collegiate round with a five-under 66 on Wednesday, moving from 36th place after two days to finish seventh individually. His score was not only a personal record but also the lowest among all 75 golfers over three days, resulting in his eighth career top-10 finish.

Viskari made six birdies and one bogey during his final round and completed the tournament with a total score of +1 on the par-71 course (76-72-66). "I'm very proud of how the guys managed themselves this week on a real championship setup," Viskari said. "Everyone played with a lot of heart and we certainly showed our competitiveness in the last two days. There's still some areas to clean up but overall, it was a solid start to a new season."

Missouri finished sixth out of 15 teams with an overall score of +16. The team improved over the final two rounds, recording +2 after opening at +14 in their first round. Their performance placed them ahead of Florida State, which entered the event ranked No. 9 in preseason polls.

"It was a good event for us up here," head coach Glen Millican said. "Our guys stayed committed to their game plans and had really good rounds today and yesterday. American Dunes requires a lot of discipline and concentration and they did a good job of managing a great course setup.

"Trent (Mierl) and Veikka posting two of the lowest rounds of the tournament was impressive and sparked a strong comeback after day one."

Sophomore Trent Mierl narrowly missed joining Viskari in the top ten by finishing 11th at +2 overall. Mierl's second-round score of 67 was only surpassed by Viskari’s final round, contributing to his fourth career top-15 finish.

Senior Virgilio Paz posted Missouri's second-best round on Wednesday with an even-par 72, climbing eight spots to finish 59th (80-76-72). Freshman Reese Roberts ended his collegiate debut tied for 28th at +7 (73-73-74), while junior Bradley Mulder placed 42nd at +11 (75-72-77) in his first tournament as part of Missouri's roster.

The Tigers are scheduled to compete next Sunday at the Canadian Collegiate Invitational as they look to continue their early-season momentum.
