No. 16 Oklahoma secured a 17-4 win over the University of Missouri baseball team in the opening game of their Southeastern Conference series on Thursday at Taylor Stadium. The Sooners took control with a go-ahead run in the fifth inning and extended their lead with late scoring rallies.

After Missouri tied the game at 3-3 in the fourth inning, Oklahoma's Easton Carmichael delivered a two-out single in the fifth to give his team a lead they would not relinquish. The Sooners then scored five runs in the sixth inning, highlighted by Trey Gambill’s second home run of the night and a two-run double from Drew Dickerson.

Gambill finished with three hits, six RBIs, and three runs scored. Dickerson also had three hits and three RBIs for Oklahoma, which improved its season record to 27-10 overall and 8-8 in SEC play.

Missouri (13-24, 0-16 SEC) narrowed an early deficit with RBI singles from Jackson Lovich and capitalized on an error that allowed two runs to score. However, Oklahoma responded quickly to regain momentum.

Freshman pitcher Brady Kehlenbrink started for Missouri, allowing three runs on three hits over four innings—a career best for him. Pierre Seals extended his hitting streak to seven games with a single in the fourth.

"Kehlenbrink completed 4.0 innings for the first time in his five collegiate starts and recorded at least three strikeouts for the fifth time in 10 appearances," according to team notes.

"Lovich finished with his team-leading 14th multi-RBI performance of the season, going 1-for-3 with two RBIs."

"Keegan Knutson recorded his first triple as a Tiger in the seventh, giving Mizzou 12 as a team this season."

"Seals extended his hitting streak to a career-best seven games with a 1-for-2 night at the plate."

"Patterson's career-best seven-game hit streak ended with his 0-for-4 night."

"With its victory Oklahoma improved to 155-110-1 all-time vs. Missouri."

"The Tigers dropped to 8-11 at Taylor Stadium this season."

Due to expected inclement weather, Missouri and Oklahoma will conclude their series Friday with a doubleheader starting at noon. Tickets are available by calling the ticket office or visiting MUTigers.com.
