The University of Missouri women's tennis team lost to No. 13 Texas with a score of 6-1 at the Green Tennis Center on Sunday, March 16. The Tigers now hold a record of 10-7 overall and are 1-5 in SEC play, while Texas moves to 10-6 overall and 4-3 in conference matches.

In doubles action, Andrea Artimedi and Inah Canete were first to finish for Missouri on court two, losing 6-2. Lailaa Bashir and Zoe Lazar fell on court three by a score of 6-3. The pairing of Mary Brumfield and Korina Roso on court one was unfinished, trailing their opponents 5-3 when play concluded.

During singles competition, Brumfield pushed her match against the No. 70 ranked singles player into a third set but ultimately lost with scores of 1-6, 6-3, 1-6. Bashir also forced a deciding set before falling short with final scores of 1-6, 6-3, 4-6 on court three. Missouri's lone point came from freshman Korina Roso on court five; she secured her victory by winning the first set in a tiebreak (7-5) and taking the second set 6-4.

Head Coach Bianca Turati said, "We had another encouraging performance today. We showed once again that we are very competitive at the highest level. We won a singles match with Korina, who played very well and showed toughness when it mattered. We forced a third set in two singles matches and battled on the other courts during singles. We also had our chances in doubles but couldn't execute well in the clutch moments. We will keep working hard for the next matches. We are hungry to win and determined to achieve our goals."

Next up for Missouri is an away match against No. 61 Florida Gators in Gainesville on Friday, March 21 at 5 p.m., followed by another road contest versus No.11 Auburn in Alabama on Sunday, March 23 at noon.
