The University of Missouri women's tennis team, ranked No. 66, was defeated by top-ranked Georgia with a score of 4-0 in Athens on Sunday. The loss brings Missouri's season record to 12-12 overall and 2-11 in Southeastern Conference play, while Georgia improves to 20-1 overall and remains undefeated at 13-0 in SEC matches.

In doubles play, Missouri lost at both the No. 1 and No. 3 positions. Senior Mary Brumfield and freshman Korina Roso were defeated by the nation's No. 12-ranked pair, falling 6-2 at the top spot. At No. 3 doubles, freshmen Gian Octa and Zoe Lazar lost to the No. 90-ranked duo, 6-1. The match at No. 2 doubles featuring junior Andrea Artimedi and senior Inah Canete went unfinished with Missouri trailing 4-2.

Missouri faced four nationally ranked singles opponents out of six matches. Two singles contests were left unfinished: Canete at court two lost her first set narrowly (7-5) before beginning the second; Lazar at court four dropped her opening set (6-2) and trailed in the second (5-2). Brumfield faced Dasha Vidmanova, the nation's top-ranked singles player, losing in straight sets (6-2, 6-3).

Head coach Bianca Turati commented on the team's weekend: "This was not the easiest weekend for the team and we had two very tough matches. South Carolina is ranked #18 and Georgia is the top team in the country. We fought and competed hard in both matches. In Columbia, the weather was very hot and humid, and our opponents could handle the conditions better than we did. Against Georgia today, I am proud of the level we showed on some of the courts, especially in singles, because we created and had opportunities against the best team around at the moment. We are all excited for next weekend because Senior Day is coming up soon!"

Looking ahead, Missouri will host No. 6 Tennessee on Friday, April 11 at home starting at 1 p.m., followed by a doubleheader on Sunday against No. 46 Kentucky at 10:30 a.m., then Lindenwood later that day.
