Bianca Turati Head Coach | Curators of the University of Missouri
Silvia Chinellato has been promoted to associate head coach of the University of Missouri women's tennis team, as announced by head coach Bianca Turati on April 24. Chinellato joined the Tigers in September 2024.
"I can't thank Silvia enough for all she's done here this year," said Turati. "She's contributing to elevating our program in so many ways. What is impressive about her is that she had such an immediate positive impact on the team; the results this year show that! Silvia is truly helping rebuild the program and creating a positive, motivating environment and a winning culture. She works so hard. I am lucky to have her by my side. It is a true pleasure to work with her every day. Congratulations, Silvia! Well deserved!"
"I am honored to be promoted to associate head coach here at Mizzou," stated Chinellato. "I am excited for the opportunity to continue to elevate this program, inspire our athletes and push for greatness both on and off the court. Most importantly, I want to thank Bianca for believing in me and her guidance. Let's go Tigers!"
Chinellato played college tennis at the University of South Carolina, where she recorded a 70-40 doubles record and a 72-50 singles record over five years. During her junior year, she was recognized as SEC Player of the Week after going undefeated against Clemson and Texas Tech. In singles, she spent most of her career playing at No. 4 and achieved an 11-7 conference record during one season.
Following graduation, Chinellato coached both men's and women's teams at Mount St. Mary’s University for two years, starting as assistant coach before being promoted to head coach for the men’s team in 2023-24. Under her leadership, Mount St. Mary's women’s team reached the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference playoffs while one of her players received Player and Rookie of the Year honors.
In her first season with Missouri alongside Turati, Chinellato helped guide the Tigers to a 13-15 record—the most wins since their 2020-21 campaign—and secured victories over two ranked opponents: Mississippi State (No. 55) and Florida (No. 22). The team was ranked among the top 75 nationally for four consecutive weeks.
Chinellato is originally from Como, Italy, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Tourism and Management while earning recognition on academic honor rolls and serving as part of student-athlete committees.
