Mizzou Cross Country senior Sarah Chapman has been named the SEC Women's Co-Runner of the Week, according to an announcement from the league office on Tuesday. Chapman secured first place in the women's 6k at the Gans Creek Classic, finishing with a time of 20:01.1. This result set a new personal best for Chapman and broke the previous course record of 21:12.4.

Chapman is the first Mizzou woman to receive this honor since junior Reilly Revord was recognized for her performance at the Illinois State Invitational in September 2018. She is also only the third female runner in program history to earn Runner of the Week honors, joining Revord and Karissa Schweizer, who received it eight times.

With her time being the fastest 6k in the country last week, Chapman was also named United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division I Women's National Athlete of the Week. "She joins Schweizer as the second Mizzou runner in program history to be awarded both USTFCCCA and SEC weekly honors in the same week," according to Mizzou officials.

The senior becomes the second Mizzou runner this season to be honored by the league office, following freshman Willam Sinclair's recognition earlier this year. The Tigers have earned conference honors at each of their two events so far this season.

Chapman led Mizzou women for an eighth time during her career on her way to her first individual victory, holding off competition from 17 Arkansas Razorbacks runners—the defending national champions. The Tigers finished second as a team with 61 points; Arkansas took first with 20 points.

Mizzou will conclude its regular season at home during the Mizzou XC Invitational on October 16 before traveling to Baton Rouge for SEC Championships on October 30.
