Mizzou Cross Country will end its season at the SEC Cross Country Championships, which are set to take place Friday at the University Club Golf Course in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The team is entering 19 athletes into the competition—10 men and nine women. The women's 6000-meter race will begin at 9:05 a.m. Central Time, followed by the men's 8000-meter race at 10 a.m. Both races will be broadcast live on SEC Network.
The men's team is led by redshirt senior Kieran Wood from Cambridge, England, who recently won the Gans Creek Classic earlier this month. He will compete alongside juniors Martin Prodanov of Plovdiv, Bulgaria, and Marquette Wilhite of Warrensburg, Missouri; both finished in the top-30 in last year's championship race. Seven of the ten male runners are freshmen participating in their first SEC Championship.
On the women's side, six runners have previous experience at the SEC Championships. Senior Sarah Chapman from Maidenhead, England is among those competing after winning the Gans Creek Classic and setting a new personal record.
Last year, Mizzou's women's team placed third with three runners finishing in the top-30. The men's team finished seventh.
