Missouri Tigers claim two event wins at Virginia Challenge track meet

The University of Missouri track and field team concluded the second day of competition at the Virginia Challenge held at Lannigan Field in Charlottesville, Virginia. The Tigers secured two event titles in the javelin throw.

Callan Saldutto led the men's javelin with a winning throw of 72.52 meters (237-11), earning first place. On the women's side, Valentina Barrios Bornacelli took first place with a throw of 52.99 meters (175-10). Freshman Val Galligan also reached the podium, finishing third in the women's javelin with a personal-best mark of 50.15 meters (164-6).

In men's discus, three Missouri athletes finished in the top ten. Tarique George placed second with a throw of 54.18 meters (177-9). Skylar Coffey and T.J. Wiggins followed in fourth and fifth places with throws of 52.86 meters (173-5) and 52.47 meters (172-1), respectively.

Alicia Burnett finished fourth in the women's 200-meter dash, recording a time of 23.84 seconds. Steven Marks placed ninth on the men's side with a time of 21.20 seconds; both athletes had previously earned top-ten finishes in their respective 100-meter dashes on Friday.

Other notable performances included Kaesha George finishing seventh in women's javelin with a mark of 45.72 meters (150-0), Marysa Flieg placing tenth at 43.03 meters (141-2), Ames Burton securing ninth place in men's discus at 51.43 meters (168-8), and Tania Duncan finishing twenty-fifth at 39.36 meters (129-1).

The Tigers will compete next at the Texas A&M Alumni Muster on May 3 in College Station, Texas for their final regular season meet.
