The University of Missouri swimming and diving teams completed the first day of competition at the Georgia Invitational, held at Gabrielsen Natatorium. Both the men's and women's teams are currently in fifth place in their respective standings after 14 events.

The women's team accumulated 108 points, trailing LSU by 8.5 points for fourth place. The men's team earned 133 points, also behind LSU, which holds fourth with 159 points.

A total of 21 swimmers and three divers from Missouri advanced to finals following preliminary rounds. Sophomore John Watson reached the A final in the men's 200 individual medley, finishing with a time of 1:46.09. Freshman Luke Nebrich also qualified for the A final in the men's 50 freestyle.

In relay events, Missouri's men's 200 freestyle relay team—composed of Nebrich, Grant Bochenski, Francois Malherbe, and Darden Tate—achieved an NCAA B cut qualifying standard and placed fourth overall with a time of 1:16.98.

On the diving side, newcomer Megan Jolly recorded her highest score of the season with a mark of 297.45 in women's 3-meter diving to finish fourth. Gabriela San Juan Carmona followed closely with a score of 289.20. In men's diving, Collier Dyer posted a score of 319.55 in the 1-meter event.

Grant Bochenski delivered a notable performance in the men's 400 medley relay with an individual split of 45.34 seconds, surpassing last year's NCAA invited time.

The Tigers will continue competition on Thursday with preliminaries starting at 8:30 a.m., preliminary diving at 10:30 a.m., and finals scheduled for later in the afternoon.
