The University of Missouri's swimming and diving teams will host a two-day meet at the Mizzou Aquatic Center, welcoming competitors from Missouri State and McKendree on Friday and Saturday. The event will include a ceremony honoring 14 graduating seniors before Saturday’s competition, scheduled for approximately 9:40 a.m.
Friday’s session features a non-traditional lineup, including the 50 skins races for each stroke and an 800 freestyle knock-out race. In the skins races, six swimmers—two per team—compete in rounds that narrow the field to four, then two athletes racing head-to-head in the final. Each round is separated by four minutes. The knock-out race eliminates one swimmer at intervals until only two remain for a final sprint.
Other events on Friday include the 200 free relay, various stroke races over unique distances, individual medleys, and a diving exhibition. Saturday’s schedule returns to standard collegiate format with 16 events such as relays, distance swims like the 1650 free, sprints and strokes over multiple distances, and both one- and three-meter diving competitions.
Admission is free for both days. Fans can follow live results via Meet Mobile App and DiveMeets or watch streaming coverage on SEC Network+.
Missouri enters this weekend with strong records against its visiting opponents. Both men’s and women’s teams are undefeated all-time versus McKendree; their last meeting was February 22, 2022 in Lebanon, Illinois. Against Missouri State, Mizzou men lead their series 30-7-1 while women hold a perfect record of 21-0; both squads won their most recent encounters on December 2, 2023 in Springfield.
In their previous meet against Louisville on January 3 in Columbia, Mizzou recorded several individual wins despite overall team losses to nationally-ranked opponents. "Diving found success taking first in both women's and men's 3-meter springboard; Gabriela San Juan Carmona took gold with a score of 301.28, while junior Collier Dyer put up 375.60 for first for the men," according to the release.
"Dyer also added a win in platform diving with a 383.03 performance; freshman Deacon Colbert earned his first career podium finish with a score of 335.63 in the platform to take silver."
"Emily Roden, a sophomore, took her first gold finish of the season in women's 200 fly with a 1:57.95 performance."
"Jan Zubik won the men's 200 fly with a 1:42.65 swim to complete the Tigers' first-place sweep of the event."
"Grant Bochenski picked up another win in the 100 back with a time of 45.86; the senior is undefeated in the 100 back at home this season.
Bochenski also helped Luke Nebrich, Francois Malherbe and Darden Tate swim a 1:18.40 in the men's 200 free relay to take gold.
Earning first place in the women's 1000 free, Zoe Schneider completed the race in 9:50.49.
Senior Jibran Himsi took first in the men's 1000 free with a finish in 9:14.94."
