Senator Eric Schmitt, a U.S. Senator representing Missouri, posted a series of statements on his official X (formerly Twitter) account on September 16, 2025, addressing political polarization and violence in the United States as well as announcing an award he received.

In a post published at 16:42 UTC, Schmitt wrote: "There can be no 'unity' between good and evil. One side must win, and the other must lose."

Later that day at 18:21 UTC, he continued with another statement: "One side is responsible for the overwhelming majority of political violence in America. And it isn't the Right. Don't give us this 'both sides' bullshit. Nobody's falling for it anymore."

In a subsequent post at 22:15 UTC, Schmitt shared news about receiving recognition from a legal analysis organization: "Honored to receive the Defender of Limited Government Award from @leganalysis. Our Founding Fathers created our country with limited government in mind, and it's my mission in the Senate to ensure it stays that way."

Senator Schmitt has been vocal about his conservative positions since joining the Senate after serving as Missouri’s Attorney General. The Defender of Limited Government Award is given by organizations such as @leganalysis to lawmakers who are perceived as upholding principles of limited government rooted in constitutional interpretation.

Political violence has remained a topic of national debate in recent years, with both major parties accusing each other of responsibility for unrest or incidents across the country.
