Senator Eric Schmitt posted a series of statements on September 17, 2025, addressing topics ranging from the U.S. Constitution to political violence in America.

In his first post, Schmitt commemorated Constitution Day by highlighting the significance of the nation's founding document. On September 17, he wrote: "The U.S. Constitution is a revolutionary document. It was written to protect liberty, cultivate virtue, & forge a great nation of self-governing citizens. Where other nations have failed, America succeeded. Happy Constitution Day!"

Later that day, Schmitt addressed the death of Charlie Kirk and its implications for political discourse in the United States. In his post at 16:21 UTC, he stated: "Charlie Kirk was a free speech warrior. He purposefully engaged with people who disagreed with him, and he was murdered for it. We cannot have a conversation about political violence if we are not honest about where the majority of it comes from - the radical Left."

Continuing on the subject of political violence, Schmitt shared statistics regarding attitudes among Americans on the left side of the political spectrum. At 19:09 UTC on September 17, he posted: "We can't unite if don't confront the facts. 25% of very liberal Americans think political violence can be justified. 55% of Americans on the Left believe assassinating President Trump would be somewhat justified. This is NOT a both sides issue."

Senator Eric Schmitt represents Missouri in the United States Senate and has previously served as Missouri's Attorney General.
