Senator Eric Schmitt posted a series of tweets on September 18, 2025, addressing topics ranging from the anniversary of the U.S. Air Force to concerns about political violence and alleged actions by federal authorities.
In a tweet commemorating the establishment of a military branch, Schmitt wrote: "Happy 78th birthday to the U.S. Air Force! Founded under Missouri’s own President Truman, the Air Force continues to protect and serve our nation with courage and dedication. " (September 18, 2025).
Later that day, Schmitt commented on political violence in the United States: "In America today, the problem is not political violence in the abstract. It is a specific kind of political violence which is overwhelmingly driven by a specific set of actors and groups on the Left, and it's time we're honest about it." (September 18, 2025).
Schmitt also raised concerns regarding federal law enforcement activities: "It just keeps getting worse. This week, we learned that Joe Biden's FBI was actively targeting 92 conservative groups and individuals in a massive fishing expedition. The list includes Charlie Kirk's organization, Turning Point USA. " (September 18, 2025).
The U.S. Air Force was established as an independent service branch in 1947 under President Harry S. Truman—a Missouri native—following passage of the National Security Act. The force has since played key roles in American military operations worldwide.
Concerns over alleged politicization within federal agencies have been a recurring issue in American public discourse. While various claims have surfaced regarding investigations into political groups or individuals by agencies such as the FBI during different administrations, official sources have at times disputed or contextualized these allegations.
