Senator Eric Schmitt, representing Missouri in the U.S. Senate, has recently posted a series of statements on his official X (formerly Twitter) account addressing concerns about the justice system, military training facilities, and federal budget negotiations.

On September 18, 2025, Schmitt criticized the current administration’s approach to law enforcement and judicial proceedings. He wrote, "Under Joe Biden, the justice system was weaponized against Americans for their political beliefs - that's what we call Soviet-style justice. Our country has never seen anything like it before, and we must never allow it to happen again."

The following day, September 19, 2025, Schmitt highlighted Fort Leonard Wood’s role in military police training and advocated for expanding its mission. He stated, "Fort Leonard Wood leads in training American military police and they have the space to do even more. @SecWar, it's time to expand their capabilities to train the influx of new ICE agents." Fort Leonard Wood is a major U.S. Army installation located in Missouri that specializes in basic and advanced training for military police and other specialized units.

Later on September 19, Schmitt addressed ongoing budget debates in Congress by criticizing Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer’s stance on government funding priorities. He posted, "Shutdown Schumer is willing to shutdown the government just to refund NPR, gut the $50B rural health fund that was included in the One Big Beautiful Bill, & reinstate wasteful spending." Congressional debates over federal spending often include disputes over allocations for public broadcasting and healthcare funding for rural communities.

Senator Eric Schmitt has previously served as Missouri's Attorney General before being elected to the U.S. Senate.
