Rep. Mark Alford, who has represented Missouri’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress since 2023, recently highlighted legislative developments and funding secured for his district in a series of social media posts.
On September 24, 2025, Alford announced on X that he had helped secure federal funding for local infrastructure: "BIG WIN for MO-4! Proud to work to secure $6 MILLION, through Appropriations Committee passed bills, for the Skyhaven Airport expansion at UCM in Warrensburg. This investment will boost our MO-04 economy, improve infrastructure, and keep Missouri flying high! https://t.co/sM7y1mAec2".
Later that evening, Alford addressed ongoing congressional negotiations over government spending priorities. On September 24, he posted: "Republicans want to prioritize rural healthcare over illegal aliens. Democrats are willing to SHUT DOWN the government to take money from the LARGEST EVER investment for rural hospitals to give illegals Medicaid—harming our troops, veterans, and families in the process."
The following day, September 25, Alford reiterated concerns about Democratic proposals related to Medicaid coverage and government funding: " Democrats are holding government funding hostage for a radical wish list that includes giving illegal aliens Medicaid funded by your tax dollars! Meanwhile, @HouseGOP passed a CLEAN, short-term CR to keep our government OPEN and working for the American people."
Alford's comments come amid ongoing debates in Congress regarding appropriations bills and efforts to avoid a government shutdown. He is currently serving as a member of Congress representing Missouri’s 4th district after succeeding Vicky Hartzler in 2023. Born in Baytown, Texas in 1963 and now residing in Lake Winnebago, Alford holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Texas at Austin (1988).
